The Boy And His Music

This boy, started atop a Wurlitzer, back in the late 60’s in small town New Zealand.

His Uncle Bert gave him a ukulele for his 4th birthday and so it started here. 

From there his parents bought him a guitar and he would play til his fingers bled (to coin a song).

Growing up through the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s Jonny listened to and played along with Motown, Rock and Roll, and by ever so gentle persuasion from mother Peg, Country.

Through his early years, Jonny performed at functions, competed in talent quests, and also delved into the “Festival Music Society.” It’s an old people thing: singing, dancing, and playing the piano!

Wherever he went, Jonny was always accompanied by his trusty guitar, which is almost inseparable to this day. 

Jonny soon learned that not everyone wanted to hear “his choice.” 

Diversity came into the fray, so it was back at the music sheets, and lyric sheets to learn and learn. 

To this day, it’s still his thing, to play what people want to hear, to take people to those places only music can take you. 

His “thang” is to see smiles and tears when he’s either serenading, or blues-ing, or just simply taking people out of one space into another, with the joy of music.
